Twitter Landing Page – Saturday Sharefest!

8.7.09

Hi Ladies!

First a little contest info, then the tip and sharefest!

One our of SITStas, Nicole, is a published author! How cool is that?

She has written a Christian Young Adult series and is giving away two autographed books to a lucky SITS girl. What a great gift to that young lady in your life!

Be sure to check out the site, Scenarios, just for tween and teen girls!

And now, on to Phat Mommy’s Tip of the week and Sharefest!

Welcome to the weekly blogging tip and comment game! This week I’m talking about creating a twitter landing page.

Twitter. We all love it. And it’s a great way to get traffic to your blog. So are you maximizing that traffic and converting the visits to new readers/subscribers?

When I get an email notification that someone new is following me on Twitter, the first thing I do is click on the link and visit their Twitter profile page. If their profile shows some info that looks interesting to me, I’ll visit the link to their blog.

Your first step is to be sure you’ve updated your profile on Twitter. Give potential followers your photo, blog URL, and a description of yourself. If you don’t, you might be written off as a spammer. So your profile page is all spiffy and pretty, you say? Great. How about your Twitter landing page?

A Twitter landing page is a page on your blog specifically created to showcase your best content to new Twitter followers. You could use your main URL on your profile page, but this is a perfect opportunity to create a page with links to your best posts, other blogs your contribute to (since Twitter only lets you put one URL on your profile), contact info, a bio… anything you want people to know about. Just create a page on your blog, then put that link on your Twitter profile page. What a great way to advertise you!

Now, let’s play a game! Here are the rules for the SITS Saturday Sharefest:

  • Leave a comment here with a link to one of your best blog posts (or just your main URL if you prefer).
  • After you leave your comment, visit the link of the person who commented BEFORE you.
  • Comment on their post and be sure to say “Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest” in your comment.

This last part is really important because other people visiting our various blogs will see this “sharefest” note and wonder, “What the heck is that?” Then they might seek us out and we’ll get even more people involved in SITS. Get it? Good? Now, go play nice and leave some comments!

If you’re the first commenter, come on over and visit me: Shannon @ PHAT Mommy.
