Keely from Lollygag Blog is a complete crack up and can weave the makings of a good story like nobody’s business.
I love your blog title, what inspired it?
Lollygag is just one of those cool words- and it’s totally is fun to say with ‘blog’- plus it’s exactly what it sounds like: I am blogging when there are clearly more important things to be done. And about random minutiae, at that!
Why did you start blogging?
At first, I needed a creative jumpstart for my playwriting and short fiction projects. The blog became an exercise in just blurting it all out and editing later. Then, of course, I became addicted to the communities and feedback. Plus, once I had decided that ‘Lollygag’ and ‘Blog’ sounded good together, I kind of needed to actually write the blog.
What is your ultimate goal for your blog?
I would love to have gobs of people know that, twice a week, they can hop over for humorous and semi-relatable tales of Chicago, parenting, the Arts, and random hilarity. Of course, financial independence through ad sales is nothing to scoff at, either.
Have you met anyone online who you’d be willing to meet in person?
True story- some of the best people that I know are folks I’ve met online. My current good bloggy pal (whom I’ve never met) is Molly at Little Stories Everywhere. Sometimes we’re convinced we write the same blog. (And our daughters are mere days apart!)
What would you do with an entire day all to yourself?
First, I’d cry. With joy, disbelief and exhaustion. I’d take a four hour nap, pretend my bathroom was a spa (apparently, even in a dream I cannot justify the money), marathon Golden Era movies, breeze through two Nora Roberts novels, order some rad sushi, drink more red wine than was wise…and eventually want my husband and kid back home to snuggle before bed.
