New to SITS? Welcome!! Go read this to get started.
The end to our 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Summer Challenge is getting closer! We’ve just completed week 3 and are quickly approaching the final countdown to the finish line.
Here is your rundown of what happened in the SITS Girls Community in BlogFrog this week. Hope you are finding the blog tips and tricks as helpful as we are!
Day 14: We were asked to update a key page on our blog, such as Who I Am, Contact Me, or even our front page. Some pages are much more powerful than others and deserve that extra tweaking.
Day 15: We made friends! Bloggers who work together often have more success in building their blogs. Beth from Beth: A Work in Progress showed us how connecting with a bloggy buddy helped her to improve her blog so that it loads faster.
Day 16: We addressed and solved a problem for our readers. Melissa’s post on How to Improve Your Writing (Without Improving Your Writing) on Adventuroo accomplished this beautifully. Kittie from Indigo Girl – As I See It! also helped out her readers by explaining how she kick starts her writing creativity.
Day 17: We watched someone navigate our blog for the first time to see how they use and experience the site. Within just a few minutes, we were able see our blog more objectively and obtain unbiased feedback.
Day 18: We created a sneeze page, which is a page on our blog dedicated to highlighting our favorite or most popular posts. This helps readers to avoid scrolling through an archives list to discover our best content on their own.
Day 19: We wrote an opinion post. Whether you’re simply an authority in your niche or maybe even a bit controversial, people are interested in reading what you really think. Melissa from Confessions of a Dr. Mom wrote a poignant post on how breastfeeding broke her heart that’s definitely worth checking out.
Day 20, which is happening today, is the perfect challenge for the SITS community. It’s all about leaving comments as a way to build traffic.
I think we’ve got this one in the bag!

Very late to SITS Saturday Sharefest but I made it none-the-less
This is my post I am most proud of. My blog is more for frugal people to save and that sort of thing, but this post was personal, which I don’t do all that often. I’m sarcastic and direct, but not always able to share personal stuff. I hope you get to know me a bit better after reading it.

thanks for visiting! i just found you all and your site is great! look for kensiecakes to be featured in a few months too!
Love me some Saturday Sharefest!
My most popular post this summer was my tutorial for how to use Lazertran Waterslide Decal Paper on your home Inket printer to make your own Custom Dinnerware ~ Dishes, cups, plates, you name it! I followed it up with a recipe for Secret Squirrel Cookies (A fudgy brownie baked into a peanut butter cookie).

I hope you all are having a great weekend! I’m having a blast getting some new music together, and I’m working on a cover of a Lisa Lavi song as well.
What are all of you doing?
This was a great Challenge! I just found this site ~ It’s just wonderful! A lot of great information! ~Thanks…
I’m checking in pretty late this Saturday. Anybody else still out there?

Hi ladies! Hope you had a GREAT Saturday and enjoy your fabulous Sunday!
I just recently wrote a post about how my husband took away my son’s pacifier while I was out of town. It generated a lot of controversy!

Looking forward to reading all the blog challenge tips . . . definitely have some catching up to do!
Here’s my best post of the whole summer. Well, maybe it is. What do you think? The title is actually 10 Ways to Tell you are a Lousy Bowler.

Here is one of my favorite posts of the Summer! It is all about smiling at strangers. You never know who might need a little smile from you to brighten up their day.

Busy week, haven’t been an at all
oh hello SITS. It’s been so long – I feel like the sleazy boyfriend who comes slinking back after livin’ it up on the Sunset Strip.
anyway – I’ve been keeping up on all the Challenge stuff on Twitter and have seen some great ideas. I’ve been writing lots more but pretty much slacking on making my blog fab.
but just to join in the spirit of things, here’s one of my favorite posts ever. About how a mug isn’t only a mug.

I’ve slacked on the blog this summer so am trying to get moving again. I think this one may be my favorite…

I just signed up on your blog!
Happy Weekend……
Hey Everyone, well I am here and happy to say that I have survived the busiest day of my life!!! I can’t tell you how great it feels to have things crossed off your to do list…now all there is left is this bottle of wine..and do I look like a quitter???
Here is my best post this week…something totally not expected from InsatiableHost
http://insatiablehost.blogspot.com/2010/08/in-your-eyes.html
ok, i’m not participating in the challenge with you guys, but i’ve been following along. learning alot and will hopefully do some of the things you guys are talking about!
Well, I’m putting up my most recent post, which my mom told me is her favorite. That says something considering she doesn’t usually comment.

Yay! New reading material!
Today I’ve been browsing the archives and trying to get some exposure to early posts that went unnoticed (and that I think are quite good!) like this one:

Happy weekend to all!
Congrats to both Beth and Dr Mom for being spotted in today’s awesome SITS post. I’m a regular visitor to both, because they have consistetly high quality posts.
Lovely to see you girls here, and thought both of your posts mentioned above were so very very good.
I’m not sure it’s the best but I just got on this “SITS” blog so I figured it would be a good introduction. Here yu go.

I followed your tip from day 18 (create a sneeze page) today – my idea will be to feature a flashback sunday, picking a theme or genre. I love the possibility to revive some of my posts that will be new for my new followers! Let’s see how it goes!
Great site!!
ups, forgot to leave the link!!

I missed Saturday Sharefest! We were hobnobbing in New York on Saturday. Hope everyone had a great Saturday!
Love SITS!
Here is one of my favorites from this summer which was actually a post for Mama Kat’s Writer’s workshop one week, I believe:

Thanks.
Sigh — I’m slogging away with the 31 DBBB, but I am terribly behind. I’m thinking it should be spread over 60 days!
Yay for Saturday sharefest!
I’m new to the blogging world, so my blog is definitely a work in progress. I am literally learning as I go. My blog is mostly about shopping with coupons, and homemaking tips, and inspiration.
http://justpeachyindixie.blogspot.com/2010/08/shopping-cvs-101.html
I hope you stop by.
This DBBB challenge is really helpful
i’m a little behind though.
Oh goodness, the end already??? This was great, though!
Hi girls!
I just discovered you! You girls are so cool!!
All of you are doing really great!
Best wishes!
Sadly, I have only written book reviews this summer. Summer is the time to catch up on good reads!
I’m so glad I took the plunge and joined in with #31DBBB with my SITStahs. I’ve had Darren’s book for awhile after winning it in a give-away. I know it would have sat on my TO DO pile forever gathering dust. Now, here we are at the end of week 3. Whoohooo!
i’m behind on this week thanks to blogher/my new york sightseeings, but i’m ready to catch up now. my best post this summer was when i was about to announce the completion of my cancer treatment http://www.carrieactually.com/today-day-radiation/
I loved Confessions of a Dr. Mom. Great blog!
Hi!
I just joined this site, so I am learning about the 31 day challenge. I love the tips!

Welcome, Dee Dee! So glad you are here. Saw that you checked out the tips for a Facebook Fan page. Hope it helps!
Hi there! I’ve just joined SITS and I wish I had joined when you first started the 30 days to a better blog! But I’m looking forward to looking through all the posts, visiting new bloggers and of course leaving lots of comments:)
What an awesome bunch of challenges!
