Victoria, from Crowning Victoria began her blog after getting engaged and it’s slowly taken on a life it’s own!
Your blog title is unique, what inspired it?
My blog title, Crowning Victoria, is inspired by a nickname derived from a car. One day in college a friend referred to me as “Crown Vic” like the car – the Crown Victoria. It’s a fancy car, but I’m far from fancy or too high-maintenance. Yet it stuck as a special nick-name. When trying to think of a blog title, the same friend recommended that same nick-name. It was fun and catchy, so it stuck!
How much does wedding planning now consume your life?
Wedding planning consumes my. whole. life. or about 90% of it. I say if we could do it all over again (and we’re still 6 months out!) I’d plan a destination wedding. There’s something to be said about “all inclusive.” I thought about instituting a No Wedding Wednesday, when we take a break once a week from planning or discussing the wedding. However that plan quickly failed when I realized I still think about wedding planning on Wednesdays.
Where do you see your blog five years from now?
Five years from now (and don’t tell Mike, yet) I hope that my blog will be that of other mommy-bloggers that I admire (with pertaining subject matter). I also hope by then to make the WordPress plunge!
How do you balance blogging with teaching, wedding planning, and taking care of all of your sweet pets?
Wait, you can balance blogging and life? Total newsflash to me! 🙂 I pride myself on never finishing anything when I first start it, so there’s always a little bit started. Some see this as a downfall, or call it easily distracted, but I see it as a little help here-and-there. The animals always get fed, the papers eventually get graded, and the blog will still get hits. I just do what I can, when I can.
You write that your fiance does lots of wonderful things for you (feel free to send jewelry my way too Mike!), what is something you for him that makes him feel as special?
Oh my fiance truly is wonderful, but grad-school is so not nice to him. To make him feel special I pick up the home-responsibilities so when his reading and studying is done and the papers are written, he can come home to a good meal and clean house…and maybe some homemade cookies, too!
