Happy Valentine’s Day! Wishing everyone a wonderful day with their family and loved ones.
We are ready to get this special day started with our featured blogger Rural Rookie.
Hi, I’m Nikki! I started my blog, Rural Rookie, last year as a way to document my journey from suburban sorority girl to (soon-to-be!) farm wife. I write about adapting to life in the sticks, planning our destination wedding, the antics of our crazy corgi pup, my budding interest in photography, and sometimes even recipes and DIY projects. Join me as I figure out life and love in the country – one glass of wine at a time!

Hi Nikki, happy SITS Day! Nice blog! Loved your dog with your cattle. We have had two breeds of herding dogs (Great Pyrenee and Australian Shepherds and they are great fun and really good for herding.) We don’t have cattle, but when our Buddy was a puppy, he would nip our heels trying to herd us around! Wish you the best in your endeavors and in your blogging.
Thank you! Joey is the first herding dog we have ever had. It’s been such a crazy new experience – especially when he’d rather herd a Chihuahua than livestock!
Congratulations and happy SITS Day!
Fun blog! Have a great SITS Day and Valentines Day!
Thanks, Carissa!
