When we re-launched The SITS Girls back in February, we thought it was high time to overhaul the face of the featured blogger posts. We started adding more images, gave you more content, and made the posts more like an interview.
And in the end, that new strategy worked great…for us.
It seems that y’all love the featured blogger format, but when it comes to clicking through to the featured blogger posts and leaving some comment love, we’re falling a smidge short.
That’s why, starting tomorrow, we’re getting back to basics. We’re excited to share with you that we have revamped the featured blogger process. Our main goal is to ultimately drive as many comments and page views to the featured blogger’s site as possible! Because of that, we will no longer be sending out interview questions. Instead, what readers will see on The SITS Girls will be just a quick snippet about the featured blogger.
Remember that everything there is to learn about the featured blogger will just be a click away! Your job as as a SITStah is to:
- Roll Call: Show up here in the Featured Blogger channel as often as you can and leave a comment. This can be as simple as “Here!” Another great way to put our website to work for you is to promote whatever is happening on your blog, such as a giveaway, a meme, or even a special post. Let us know about your site through your comment in the Featured Blogger channel.
- Leave a Comment on the Featured Blogger’s Blog: This is by far your most important job. This process works best when we are all making the featured blogger feel special and ensuring that she has a great day!
- Grab a Button: Be sure you have our button in your sidebar. When your featured blogger day pops up in our schedule, we’ll quickly run by your blog to make sure it is there. We also check to see that you have been roll calling.
- Submit to be a Featured Blogger: Make sure you reserve a spot in our featured blogger schedule by sending us your information. You can find the submission form here.
We are continually striving to make The SITS Girls as fab and useful as we possibly can. We love you for sticking around and for being a part of our community!

Loving the new approach!

I haven’t been able to participate as much as I would like to. But this new/old format makes it easier to share the love!
Thank you!
Lorna
Great idea! I know I’ve been guilty of not clicking through. That changes NOW.
I’m new around here and am loving everything you do to feature bloggers and their amazing blogs! I’m excited to find some new reads!
I dunno, I quite liked the interview format! Most of them were really funny and sweet. But I guess thise works too!

Thanks for the reminder 🙂
Sounds a lot better now. 🙂 Thanks!
I like it!
I try to remember to roll call daily. I think the new format sounds great!
I have failed horribly at being a good SITStah. I haven’t roll called or left comments in a few months. I need to get back on the waggon!
I’m so happy for this change. I’ll admit I often didn’t click over to the featured blog due to time, but you are right, this is a community and it’s important. Thanks for the reminder, and I’m excited for SITS to go back to the new “old” way!
Us too!
I admit to being a bad girl sometimes and not actually going to the actual blog because of all the info! But I’ll do better! 🙂
Doing some catch up reading today. I’m new to SITS so only know the new way, and I’ve visited the featured blog so now will need to figure out the old way, but I’m sure it will be easy to do.
Love all that you do.
I loved the “new” process and I love the old, but new again process. You girls are just awesome 🙂
Someone else mentioned about sending the interview to the featured blogger for her to share on her own blog. I think that is a good idea. I, too, found that I was not always clicking over to the blogger (sometimes, but not systematically) so it’s probably best the old way.
By the way, all my communities are on my blog roll page because I like my sidebar to be as uncluttered as possible. I could move it over for a featured blogger post (I hope one day) but is that a pre-requisite for actually being chosen as one?
Hi Jennie,
This is a tough one, as we really do check and we can’t look through the entire site to find it. Often, if we see you’ve been commenting, then we will ask where the badge is before moving on to the next blogger in line.
Tiffany
good plan!
I love that you’re going back to the “old” format too.
Also – is there an easy way to go back through the archives to see all the featured bloggers of the past? There’s one that was telling her story and I cannot for the life of me find her back. Wishing my computer didn’t crash and lose my bookmarks! 🙁
Love how many awesome friends I find here on SITS… thank you!
Hey Julie, what topic are you looking for?
HERE!!!
I already posted on here when this post was new, but I had an idea…
What if you still did the interview questions, but just sent them to the featured blogger to post on her blog instead? Then she can put that in her post about being featured [if she wants to] and people can still read the interview, but on her blog instead. Of course, if any featured blogger didn’t want to do the questions, they could leave them out. I just like reading the questions, but I get the idea of wanting to direct traffic to the girl’s blog…so this could be a fair compromise that accomplishes both!!
Feels like old times! YEah!
Old school baby!
I liked the new way, BUT I am excited to go back.
I must admit I was fond of the “old way” which is now being brought back. I know that so many others like myself are very busy with families, children, jobs (sometimes more than 1 even), and also really want to keep up with their blogging and social networking. We don’t have a whole lot of time on our hands and after reading the interviews and responding accordingly on the SITS site you can forgot to actually comment the featured blogger! 🙂
Hopefully this “back to basics” will help those of us who do not mean to forget!
