Consumer Media Disclosure
The following standards apply to all consumer media outlets that (1) receive payments, gift cards, products, travel expenditures, or other products or services at no cost or at a reduced cost from Sears Holdings Management Corporation and its affiliates (the “Company”); and (2) publicly endorse or otherwise make public statements about the Company and/or its products or its services:
First, the Company requires all consumer media outlets to disclose the existence of their relationship with the Company in any public statements that refer to the Company and/or its products or services.
Second, the Company requires all endorsements by consumer media outlets to reflect the reviewer’s honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences with the Company and/or its products or services.
Third, the Company requires all endorsements by consumer media outlets to convey only truthful, non-misleading claims about the Company and/or its products or services. Consumer media outlets may review the Company’s websites and other advertisements to identify performance claims that the Company considers to be truthful and non-misleading. Consumer media outlets that intend to disseminate performance claims exceeding the scope of the Company’s performance claims must obtain written approval from a Company representative prior to disseminating such claims.
Fourth, public statements by consumer media outlets regarding the Company and/or its products or services are subject to audit and review by Company representatives. If any such audit or review reveals noncompliance with the standards set out above, the Company may take appropriate action in its sole discretion, up to and including termination of the relationship with the consumer media outlet.
